Welcome to PamelaPatton.com. As an artist working in watercolors
and colored pencil, I draw and paint the things I love and treasure
the
flowers in my yard, the landscapes of the wooded river valley in
which I live.
From the surroundings of my Nebraska home, built by hand by my
grandfather on land that has been in my family since before the
Civil War, my environs are steeped in the history of my family and
my community. From this tranquil setting, I paint the quiet, simple
things I find comforting and familiar to me.
I have always been drawn to the intimate details of nature---the
delicate flower, the intricate leaf, the majestic tree---and I try
to infuse my paintings with their simple beauty. I want the observer
to discover with me the subtle hue of an autumn leaf or the translucent
character of a flower petal.
I believe that even the small things around us can bring us pleasure.
My landscapes are not intended to be grand in scale, but rather
intimate and personal. I want them to beckon you, the viewer, to
feel the warmth of the sun or the cool of the dappled shade, to
remind you of a cherished, simpler time.
